Across the Ponte Vecchio towards Palazzo Pitti
When exiting the Hotel Berchielli your gaze is inevitably drawn to the nearby Ponte Vecchio, one of the most famous bridges in the world which, just a hundred meters from our hotel, connects the historical centre of Florence to the neighbourhoods “beyond the Arno”.
Cross the river looking into the glittering windows of the jewellery shops which since 1593 (when the smelly old butcher’s shops were moved to another part of town) have lined the bridge’s walkway. In just a few minutes you will reach majestic Pitti Palace.
For centuries the symbol of power in Florence, it now houses five interesting museums and guards over the beautiful Boboli Gardens, one of the world’s finest examples of Italianate gardens.
